Recommenced by Theo Simpson, I borrowed this book out of the library ("Learning from Las Vegas" by Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown and Steven Izenour) to have a look at with the idea of my project containing series. As in several mini series containing different subjects, one mini series focusing on the clothing photos at the market and another mini series containing photos of the food sold at the market.

This book was recommended by Simpson to me as they have done something similar to Las Vegas, they have collected images of Las Vegas, that make Las Vegas. One example that they have made is they have photographed all the signs in Las Vegas and made a page full of those images. Really like this idea of doing it for my project, using imagery that 'makes the market, the market'.

Another aspect of this collection of images from the book that I found is that they have stuck to one place, to one building, but photographed it from different sides, heights and angles so its all the same place/buulding, but various views of it. I think this ia also a good aspect that I could try for my market project. I tend to stay within the market building and photograph inside of it so a point of progression I could try out it photographing around the market and the exterior of it.

A further idea that I have been recommended to try out is visiting the market at different times of the day and the week. The lighting is so key in the imagery and testing out different times of a day can really change the photo.

Can see from this book the difference from taking the same photo but at day and night.

And finally another aspect of inspiration taking from the book is disecting a place and braking all the aspects down into categories and shown with photos. Collating all the elements that make up a place and putting them all together.
